Suggestions on sites to include on this page are most welcome. My site tries to cover the entire field of organic vegetable gardening on a basic level. On this links page I will favour sites that can take my readers deeper into specific fields like tomatoes or pest management.
Organic Gardening LinksMaster composterWorm composting, pile composting, trench composting, sheet composting and more. GardenWeb - The Internet's Garden Community Interact with other gardeners to get answers to the most unusual question about gardening in general or organic gardening in particular. Gardening LinksUS extension servicesLinks to US extension services. Lots of information, although some of it is rather nonorganic. Watch Your Garden Grow This site from University of Illinois Extention offers a guide to growing, storing and preparing vegetables. The recommendations for growing are adapted to the relatively long and hot growing season in Illinois where the daily mean temperature rises above 10oCelsius in mid april and falls below this temperature in the second half of october. The daily mean reaches 25oC in july. This site is also available in spanish. Other LinksThe World Meteorological Organisation is a specialised agency of the United Nations and provides climate data for many locations worldwide. The site also provides links to the National Meteorological Services of the 185 States and Territories that are Members.Books on organic vegetable gardeningOrganic Bible - by Bob FlowerdewComprehensive book on organic gardening that explains everything from scratch. Lots of clever techniques and good advise. Bob Flowerdew has written several good books on organic gardening. All of them are strongly recommended. Efficient vegetable gardening - Paul Doscher, Timothy Fisher and Kathleen Kolb This is one of my favourites. I would not recommend it as a first book on organic gardening. It doesn't cover everything that the beginner needs to know. But if you already own a good basic book (like the Organic Bible) then this title will take you further. Unfortunately it is not available from the publisher anymore, but used copies can be found on the internet, or in public libraries.
